A successful landscape project doesn’t always mean starting from scratch. Sometimes, the biggest impact comes from reworking what’s already there and enhancing it the right way. That was the goal for this residential project on O’Meara St in Mississauga (L5V 2X3), where we completed a backyard redesign alongside a front yard sod installation to refresh the entire property.
The homeowner wanted to improve both the functionality and appearance of their outdoor space without unnecessary removal. Several existing plants were healthy and worth keeping, so our focus was on relocating and redesigning the backyard beds, improving soil conditions, and adding clean, low-maintenance finishes.
At the same time, the front yard needed a fresh lawn to complete the overall look of the property. The entire project, including plants and sod, was completed for a total investment of $1,750.
We began in the backyard by carefully relocating existing plants and redesigning the layout to improve spacing and visual balance. The plant palette included Hydrangeas, Peonies, Hostas, and Salvia, all repositioned to suit sunlight exposure and long-term growth patterns.
Fresh soil was added to enrich the beds, followed by premium mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. To further reduce maintenance, we installed filter cloth and decorative river rock sourced from Sids, creating a clean, durable finish that complements the planting design while improving drainage.
To complete the transformation, we installed 350 sq ft of new sod in the front yard at a rate of $3.50 per square foot. Proper soil preparation and precise installation ensured a smooth, even lawn that instantly improved curb appeal.
As a finishing touch, we added solar lights at no additional cost, giving the property subtle evening illumination and a polished look after dark.
This project on O’Meara St is a great example of how smart redesign, plant reuse, and selective upgrades can deliver strong results without overbuilding. The homeowner now enjoys a refreshed backyard and a clean, welcoming front lawn that ties the entire property together.
