“Landscaping is the investment that grows while you sleep.”
That’s not just a saying—it’s the reality for homeowners who take the time to refresh and reimagine their outdoor spaces. Tree removal, strategic replanting, and a clean finish can elevate a home’s entire presence. And that’s exactly what this project was about: taking a tired, cluttered yard and transforming it into something intentional.
Here’s how it all came together—from the front walk to the back fence.
We started with the removal of three Armstrong Maple trees. They were mature, sure—but they were also past their prime. Overcrowding the yard, stealing light, and starting to threaten nearby structures. So, they came down. Clean cut. Full removal. Debris hauled away the same day.
Next came the replacement trees—also Armstrong Maples, but young, vibrant, and ready to thrive. We planted three, each one positioned for maximum sunlight and future growth. And yes, compost soil was added at every single planting location. It’s not just dirt—it’s a growth booster, full of nutrients and organic matter that gives each tree a fighting chance to establish strong roots.
To wrap the front yard? Decorative river rocks.
More than just pretty stones—river rock is functional. It reduces erosion, suppresses weeds, and gives the space that clean, modern look. It’s low-maintenance and high-impact.
Out back, the challenge was bigger. Three trees removed—this time a mix of species, none of which fit the new vision for the yard. Again, full cutdown, cleanup, and haul-away included. No stumps. No mess.
In their place: six new trees, with a mix of privacy and seasonal beauty in mind.
Three 6-foot Cedar Trees were planted along the perimeter. These evergreens offer year-round coverage and a dense, green screen that will only get better with time.
Three Armstrong Maples were added for color and structure. The fall color is unbeatable, and in the summer? Shade. Lots of it.
All new trees were planted with—you guessed it—compost soil. Roots love it. Soil health improves. Water retention goes up. That’s long-term thinking.
We didn’t stop there. Shredded pine mulch was applied throughout all planting beds. Not just tossed on—but spread evenly, layered to the right depth, and tucked around each tree base without suffocating the trunk. Mulch keeps moisture in, keeps weeds out, and slowly breaks down to feed the soil underneath.
Every project has logistics. This one included delivery and handling of trees, soil, mulch, and river rock. It was baked into the schedule and the budget. No last-minute charges. No surprises.
When planning your own landscaping work, make sure these behind-the-scenes elements are covered. It’s the stuff that keeps the project moving—quietly, efficiently, and on time.
It wasn’t just about removing and planting. It was about choosing the right trees. Placing them with intention. Finishing each area properly. And not forgetting the small things—like compost, mulch, and river rock—that make a massive difference over time.

If a tree is diseased, dying, structurally unstable, or interfering with infrastructure (like your foundation, driveway, or utilities), it’s time to consider removal. A professional assessment can confirm this.
Compost soil improves drainage, increases nutrient content, and helps young trees establish strong, healthy roots faster. It also supports long-term tree growth and overall soil health.
Cedar trees offer year-round privacy and greenery, while Armstrong maples provide vibrant seasonal color, especially in the fall. Both are hardy, attractive choices for most residential landscapes.
Mulch is ideal for planting beds because it retains moisture and improves soil over time. River rock offers better drainage, lasts longer, and gives a clean, modern look—perfect for aesthetic areas like front yards.
In addition to tree removal and planting, factor in compost, mulch or rock, delivery and handling fees, labor, and potential permits. Transparent planning prevents surprise costs later.
